Cenred, sƿylc naman mōt man ēac ƿrītan Coenred[1] ðieh 675–709) ƿaes Miercna cyning of 704 oð 709. He ƿæs Ƿulfheres sunu Miercna cyninges, þæs brōdor Æþelred fand to rīce on Miercum in 675 þan Ƿulfhere forþferde. In 704 forscrāh Æþelred þe he meaht ƿeardan munuc and geaf his stede his nefan Coenrede.

Ymbe Cenredes cynedōme ceann man lytel of ealdum bōcum, ac geƿrit of his ielde tealleþ þe Cenred Cyning aƿeardode his rīce ƿiþ Ƿala andsæccas. Man ne ƿit hƿægðer hæfde Coenred brȳd noððe bearn, oððæt ðe bēc in folgendum ieldum secgaþ þe he ƿæs Ƿigstanes ealdfæder, se ƿæs Miercna Cyning in þæm nigonoþ gearhunde.

In 709 forscrāh Cenred and he fōr on elþēodignesse to Rōmbyrig, and in þæm land abād he in munuchāde oð his dēaþe. Bēda, se ƿrāt in Coenredes ielde ƿrāt of him þe he ricsode æþele and æþlor ageaf his cynedōm.[2] Æþelredes sunu se ƿæs Ceolred fang to rīce æfter Coenrede.
